After going 1-10 at the start of the season, the Lakers rallied and pulled out a win in round 1 of the SSAC tournament. The Lakers scored five runs in the fifth inning, which helped them defeat Hammond Academy of Science & Technology 9-2 on Monday.
Agustin San Miguel Gutierrez singled, scoring two runs,
Christian Lake drew a walk, scoring one run, and an error scored two runs.
Sam Cleveland stepped on the bump first for La Lumiere. The pitcher allowed two hits and one run (zero earned) over six innings, striking out four and walking one.
Chuck Wang appeared in relief.
Josh Jaracz went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead La Lumiere in hits.
Fred Tran collected two hits in four at bats. Will Chang paced La Lumiere with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating eight walks for the game. Chang stole three bases and in total, the La Lumiere Lakers stole seven bases in the game.
The Lakers travel to Heritage Christian Dyer tomorrow to compete in the championship!
