The Lakers were spectacular on family weekend as volleyball, tennis, boys soccer, and girls soccer all came away victorious! There were also great performances from our cross country team as well.
Volleyball
The La Lumiere Girls Volleyball team was victorious on Friday night to get things rolling for family weekend. The Lakers defeated the Berrien County Coyotes 3-1 inside Marsch Gym. The "White Out" themed crowd helped propel the Lakers to victory, who were led by Senior
Lieve Siewert and Juniors
Ella Stankewicz &
Charlie Dwyer. The Lakers will host Andrew's Academy Wednesday night for Senior Night, honoring our 6 seniors.
Boys Tennis
Boys Tennis was victorious over SB Riley 3-2! 1 Singles
Agustín San Miguel Gutiérrez won 6-1, 6-0. 1 Doubles
Tyler O'Brien &
Jack Vanderveen won 6-4, 6-3. And 2 Doubles
Sam Cleveland &
Andriy Romanets won 6-1, 6-2. This was the 2nd straight match in a row the boys have won. It was great to see them fight the weather elements, and push onto victory.
Girls Soccer
The Lakers Girls Soccer team crushed Tippecanoe Valley 5-1 to kick off Saturday's festivities. On the offensive end, it was all
Lucy Horn. The Junior scored all 5 goals for the Lakers, having a hat trick in the first half alone! The 5 goals scored by
Lucy Horn are the most scored by a La Lumiere Laker in at least the last 10 years. This win was followed by a Monday night victory as well, where the Lakers defeated Morton 4-1.
Lucy Horn had a hat trick there, and
Erin Morrison added another goal. That's 8 goals in the last 2 games for Lucy! Way to go Lakers!
Boys Soccer
The Boys Soccer team handled Heritage Christian Dyer 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Vincenzo Romeo and
Eric Tseng each scored a goal for the Lakers. Junior goalkeeper
Ezra Spira completed another shutout in goal, his 2nd shutout in 2 games. The squad travels to Victory Christian Academy Tuesday evening to take on the Lions, starting at 4:30pm CT.
Cross Country
The Cross Country team took to the course at the New Prairie Invitational Saturday morning, one of the tougher courses the team will compete on this year. Sophomore
Zenonas Wendt finished with a PR of 19:58! This was good enough for a top 75 finish on the day. Way to go, Zen!
It was yet again a great Family Weekend at La Lumiere! We are grateful to be able to spend time with family, and compete with our teammates. It's always a great day to be a Laker!
