Tigers Strike Late To Upend Lakers

La Porte, IN - The final game of the U.S.Steel La Porte Invitational between the La Lumiere Lakers and Wasatch Academy Tigers was an exciting and closely contested matchup that kept the sold-out crowd at the La Porte Civic Center on the edge of their seats. The Tigers' late surge in the final quarter ultimately propelled them to a 72-65 victory over the Lakers. La Lumiere sits at 9-3 overall on the season.

The game featured a significant turnaround in the fourth quarter, with the Lakers initially building a six-point lead. However, Fischer Brown's sharp-shooting for Wasatch, particularly his stretch of nine points in the fourth quarter, including two consecutive 3-pointers, turned the tide in favor of the Tigers. Brown's contribution was crucial, as he finished the game with a solid 15 points.

John Mobley Jr. had an outstanding performance for Wasatch, leading all scorers with an impressive 30 points and also dishing out seven assists.

For the Lakers, Jerry Easter II led the team with 23 points, including 10-of-12 from the charity stripe. Darius Adams chipped in with 14 points and eight rebounds.

The Tigers' success beyond the arc was a key factor, as they connected on 7-of-19 shots from long range. This efficient 3-point shooting played a crucial role in the team's ability to overcome the Lakers' lead in the fourth quarter.

Up next, La Lumiere will have the opportunity to bounce back as they face Sunrise Christian Academy on January 13th as part of the 2024 HOOPHALL CLASSIC at Springfield College in Springfield, MA.
