The Lakers hosted Valparaiso High School and Elkhart Christian Academy at Long Beach Country Club. It was a perfect day for golf, but with tight fairways and small greens, the course demanded precision and patience.
Alex Upp shot his best 9-hole round with a 46, making an incredible recovery from the water on 7 to finish strong.
Camden Tegt was +3 after 6 holes, but with three pars in a row to finish, shot a strong 38.
Jack Vanderveen had a steady day, shooting even par with two birdies.
Danny Shuck started off with a birdie and didn't let off the gas all afternoon. Shuck finished his 9th hole by hitting the flag and draining his birdie putt to shoot a one-under 34.
The team's combined score was a 153, which is the lowest score in recent team history, edging out Valparaiso's second place finish by 10 shots.
"This team is fun to watch," said Head Coach
Kelly Sanderson. "I'm extremely proud of how they carry themselves on the course. I can't wait to see what the future brings for this team over the next year."
The Lakers head to Bent Oak Golf Club on Thursday to face Jimtown and Bremen.
