La Porte, IN - The La Lumiere Lakers boys regional basketball team opened up the 2023-24 campaign in historic Marsch Gymnasium playing host to the Cardinals from Andrews Academy. The Lakers dominated from the tip and cruised to an 88-43 victory. With the win, the Lakers sit at 1-0 on the season.

La Lumiere registered five players in double figures. Freshman Chuck Wang and Cuba Smith each scored a team-high 13 points. Senior Ian Leetz was active on the boards and chipped in with 12 points. Teammates Will Chang and Luca Asanaka filled up the scoring column with 11 and 10 points respectively while teammate Preston Malpass added 10 points. Asanaka filled up the stat sheet for the Lakers. He also dished out seven assists and had four steals in the game. 
 
Lakers will return to the hardwood on Friday and Saturday when they play host to Don Bosco and Aim High Academy.
